The ubiquitous dishes help the locals circumvent the state-run channels.

I thought it was a new kind of bread oven. Shows what I know.

If aimed properly, the dishes do emit a ray of heat and can cook bread. The end result is more of a toast than a bake though, and raw dough often remains in the middle.
